TMJ Day 5
My bite is really weird now. I'm not sure what to do or how to hold it. My bite a week ago was open and the lower jaw was set way back. Now the lower jaw is pushed forward and slightly crooked like a bulldog. I will just continue to move it around as much as I can. I'm still in pain. I've been taking my antibiotic 3 X a day and Hydrocodone as needed, which is still about every 6 hours. Today I went for a long walk, it was so beautiful and perfect outside. I also tidied up around our place. I changed the sheets, did some laundry, cleaned the bathroom, etc. Nothing too strenuous but I wanted to move my body some. Laying in bed for days is really painful on your neck and back. I rolled on my foam roller to try and get some bed sores out. I still feel foggy and dizzy from the medication and my head feels huge. On a side note for the girls: Dr. Franco said that I wouldn't get my period after Orthognathic Surgery so I assumed that I wouldn't get it for TMJ Surgery but I did and I've been having to deal with that in addition. At least I'm laying around in bed doped on Hydrocodone. Not sure if anyone would care, but just a little side note. Today I ate oatmeal and tea for breakfast, Curry over rice for lunch with carrots (I cooked the carrots really well) and a spinach smoothie with protein and collagen powder. My ears are starting to heal so they're itchy which I hate. I used a q-tip with warm water to clean some of the blood inside and put Neosporin on the stitches to keep them moist. When Dr. Franco takes the stitches out I am anticipating some pain, I've had stitches removed before and it's painful. The more moist they are the easier they'll slide out.
One other thing I forgot to mention was that on the day of my surgery my boyfriend went to Walgreens to pickup my prescription and they said they don't take my insurance! HA HA HA HA HA! So, it was $130.

These things do take a lot of time to get used to but since it is for the benefit of your health, then I think all the pain will be worth it. How are you doing nowadays? I hope you’re feeling a lot better now, and that you are no longer in that phase of excruciating pain. I wish you all the best in this journey, Katie. Take care!
